The House of Representatives has announced the death of Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, a member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency in Kaduna State. The news was confirmed by House spokesman Akin Rotimi Jr. in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that Adams died early that morning. A first-time member, Adams was the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports.
Rotimi Jr. remembered Adams as a kind and gentle person, deeply loved by those who knew him. He praised his commitment to promoting grassroots sports in Nigeria and said his work in the House would be greatly missed. The spokesman also sent heartfelt condolences to Adams’ family, friends, constituents, and the people of Kaduna State.
Adams is the third member of the House of Representatives to pass away this year. Just a week before, Rep. Olaide Akinremi, who represented Ibadan North Federal Constituency, also passed away at the age of 51 after a short illness. Rotimi Jr. remembered Akinremi as a grassroots politician who made a significant impact on his community.
