The House of Representatives Committee on Safety Standards and Regulations is raising concerns about safety in Nigeria’s electricity sector, focusing on the use of substandard equipment and other issues.
Hon. Dr. Suleiman Abubakar Gumi, the committee chair, emphasized the need for strict enforcement of safety laws to protect lives and property.
To address these issues, the committee, working with the Association for Public Policy Analysis, will host a conference to discuss the safety challenges facing the sector. The aim is to improve safety standards, reduce accidents, and tackle problems like theft and vandalism, ensuring a safer and more reliable electricity supply in the country.
