The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has expressed his deep sadness over the passing of Malam Mohammed Adamu, a Senate Correspondent for Liberty TV & Radio. Adamu passed away early Wednesday morning in Abuja.
Adamu, a native of Kaduna State, was well-respected in the journalism community. Before his role covering the National Assembly, he served as the State House Correspondent for Liberty TV & Radio, where he built a reputation for his dedication and professionalism.
In a heartfelt statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described Adamu as a hardworking and committed journalist who approached his responsibilities with diligence and integrity.
“With a heavy heart, but in complete submission to the will of Allah, I mourn the passing of Mohammed Adamu,” Senator Barau said in his statement. “He was a hardworking, dedicated, and committed journalist who carried out his duties with the highest level of professionalism.”
Senator Barau also extended his condolences to Adamu’s family, colleagues at Liberty TV & Radio, and the Senate Press Corps, who worked closely with the late journalist.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Adamu’s immediate family, the management and staff of Liberty TV & Radio, and members of the Senate Press Corps. May Allah grant them the strength and patience to bear this loss,” he added.
As a Senate Correspondent, Adamu was responsible for covering the legislative activities of Nigeria’s National Assembly, a role that required keen insight and a deep understanding of the nation’s political dynamics.
Adamu’s journey in journalism began in Kaduna State, where he built his career reporting for Liberty TV & Radio. His transition to the National Assembly in Abuja marked a significant step in his career, as he took on the responsibility of reporting on the country’s legislative affairs.
Colleagues who worked alongside him describe him as someone who was not only committed to his work but also willing to mentor younger journalists. His dedication to accurate and unbiased reporting earned him the respect of his peers and the lawmakers he covered.
The management and staff of Liberty TV & Radio are also grieving the loss of their colleague. Adamu was seen as more than just a journalist; he was a team player who contributed immensely to the success of the media house. His passing leaves a gap that will be difficult to fill.
Similarly, members of the Senate Press Corps, who worked closely with Adamu, expressed their sorrow. They recalled his friendly demeanor, his commitment to his job, and his ability to navigate the challenges of covering the National Assembly with grace and professionalism.
In his message, Senator Barau prayed for Allah to grant Adamu eternal peace and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus, the highest level of paradise in Islam. He also urged Adamu’s family, friends, and colleagues to find strength in their shared memories and the knowledge that his contributions to journalism will not be forgotten.
“May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus,” Senator Barau said. “And may God grant his loved ones the strength to endure this painful loss.”
May his soul rest in peace, and may his family and colleagues find comfort in the legacy he has left behind.
