The House of Representatives Committee on Navy has expressed dissatisfaction over the Nigerian Navy’s handling of Seaman Haruna Abbass’s dismissal and the lack of transparency regarding military operations.
The committee, led by Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, criticized the Navy for not responding to requests for information about Abbass’s dismissal and the acquisition of foreign platforms.
Hon.Gagdi emphasized the committee’s constitutional right to oversee the Navy’s use of funds and address issues concerning officers’ treatment.
He also highlighted the Navy’s failure to provide requested documents ahead of their visit. The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, defended the Navy, stressing its critical role in the country’s security and maritime operations.
