The House of Representatives has tasked its Committee on Works to investigate the abandonment of the N11 billion Numan-Jalingo Road project, which was awarded in 2017.
The road, a major federal route connecting the northern and eastern parts of Nigeria, was supposed to be completed in 20 months but has seen no significant progress over the past seven years.
While the federal government allocated N3 billion to continue the project, the contractor, DEUX Project Nig. Ltd., cited delays due to COVID-19 and security challenges.
However, conflicting information has been provided regarding the amount disbursed, and concerns have been raised about the contractor’s capacity to continue work on the project.
