The House of Representatives has ordered an investigation into the N11 billion Numan-Jalingo road project, which has been stalled since it was awarded in 2017.
Hon. Sadiq Abbass Tafida, who raised the motion, explained that the road is an important federal route linking the northern and eastern parts of Nigeria. The contract was given to DEUX Project Nig. Ltd., with a completion deadline of 20 months, but there has been no progress after seven years.
Although the government allocated 3 billion Naira to continue the project in 2020, delays persist due to security issues and the contractor’s claims of inadequate funds. The poor state of the road has also made it a hotspot for criminal activities.
