Hon.Remi Oseni, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on FERMA, has sharply criticized Works Minister David Umahi, accusing him of focusing too much on budget issues while neglecting the country’s failing roads.
During a session, Oseni pointed out that despite the approval of N300 billion last year for road repairs, Umahi has failed to prioritize fixing the country’s roads.
In response, Umahi defended himself, saying no one has ever called him a failure. He chose not to engage directly with Oseni, out of respect for the Speaker of the House and the National Assembly.
Umahi also suggested that Oseni’s comments seemed to be in favor of contractors, particularly regarding price variations that have negatively affected road projects. Despite the criticism, the minister emphasized his commitment to improving Nigeria’s roads.
