Hon. Alexander Ikwegh, a member of the House of Representatives for Aba North/South Federal Constituency, is under investigation by the police for allegedly assaulting a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya.
The incident reportedly happened on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the lawmaker’s residence on Zamfara Crescent in Maitama, Abuja. According to the FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the driver had gone to deliver a package to the lawmaker when an argument broke out over how the delivery was handled.
During the argument, Ikwegh allegedly slapped the driver and dismissed the matter, reportedly saying, “Go ahead and call the Inspector General of Police.”
Commissioner Disu condemned the lawmaker’s behavior, describing it as a lack of respect for law enforcement. He assured the public that the police would carry out a fair investigation and take appropriate legal action once the case is concluded.
