The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream) has committed to supporting the growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
During an oversight visit to agencies in Lagos, Committee Chairman Hon. Henry Odianosen Okojie stressed the importance of ensuring that players in the industry follow the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA). Okojie explained that the visit was aimed at checking compliance with the PIA and identifying any challenges that need addressing.
Representing Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency of Edo State, Okojie assured stakeholders that the committee is focused on helping, not criticizing. He also voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s policies to develop the industry.
Okojie acknowledged the current challenges facing the sector, including issues with importation and the Dangote refinery, and reassured stakeholders that lawmakers are ready to step in and offer the necessary support to ensure the industry’s success.
