The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has ordered the arrest of the National Chairman of the Tricycle Association of Nigeria, Shamsudeen Apelegun, for repeatedly ignoring invitations to address allegations of financial mismanagement and abuse of office.

The committee’s media head, Chooks Oko, stated that Apelegun had been summoned over five times but failed to appear. As a result, the Inspector General of Police has been directed to ensure he attends the next hearing on December 3.

The allegations against Apelegun were brought forward by a law firm, I.M. Iliyasu and Co., on behalf of some members of the association. Committee Chairman Mike Etaba stressed that the panel will not tolerate disregard for the law and is committed to protecting Nigerians’ interests.

The committee also issued a warning to Prima Factory in Lagos for failing to respond to a petition regarding their alleged neglect of an injured employee, Rafiu Taiwo. They urged companies to treat workers with respect and fulfill their responsibilities.
