The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives has called on the Constitution Review Committee to intensify efforts in amending the 1999 Constitution. He praised the members for their dedication but stressed that more work is needed.
Recent engagements with key stakeholders, like the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures, demonstrate the committee’s commitment to inclusivity.
The review focuses on key areas, including local government autonomy, judicial independence, electoral reforms, security, gender equality, revenue sharing, and human rights.
He reminded members of the National Dialogue on Local Government reforms on December 2, 2024, in Abuja, and other upcoming public engagements. The Deputy Speaker urged the committee to remain committed, emphasizing that their work will play a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s future.
