INEC Celebrates Retired VEP Director, Mrs. Mary Nkem

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has honored Mrs. Mary Nkem, the former Director of Voter Education and Publicity (VEP), who retired in October after 35 years of dedicated service to the Commission.

A heartfelt celebration was held in her honor at Valencia Hotel, Abuja, and was described as a warm and emotional event by the new VEP Director, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi.

The occasion was marked by an outpouring of love and commendations from colleagues and dignitaries who highlighted Mrs. Nkem’s remarkable contributions during her career. National Commissioner, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, praised her unwavering commitment and exemplary work ethic, while the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, described her as a shining example of humility and dedication.

The event was graced by several prominent figures, including former NAOWA President, Hajiya Salamatu Farouq Yahaya, and the Director of Research and Documentation, Dr. Ibrahim Sani. They all spoke highly of Mrs. Nkem’s calm demeanor, outstanding leadership, and strong team spirit.

The highlight of the evening was the cutting of the retirement cake, symbolizing the end of an illustrious career and the start of a new chapter. Mrs. Nkem was also presented with several gifts as tokens of appreciation for her service and impact.

In her remarks, Mrs. Nkem expressed gratitude for the relationships she built and the cherished memories she would carry with her, thanking her colleagues for their support and kindness throughout her career.
