The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen, announced that the House has begun discussions with key stakeholders to address concerns over the four tax reform bills proposed by President Tinubu.
He emphasized the need for urgent tax reforms to expand Nigeria’s tax base, improve compliance, and reduce borrowing.
Abbas also highlighted the country’s low tax revenue and inefficiencies in VAT collection. Despite opposition, he assured that the National Assembly is committed to collaborating with the government to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians and ensure fairness in the reforms.
