NIGERIAN NAVY RESCUES 8 POLICE OFFICERS AND 1 CIVILAIN IN BAYELSA STATE

The Nigerian Navy has rescued eight (8) police officers and 1 civilian at sea on the 24th of December 2024 around Agbura Community in Bayelsa State.

In a communique released by the Director of Information- Commodore Adam- Aliu, he said the officers were en route Yenagoa, when their speed boat hit a submerged wreck and capsized. A search and rescue operation was conducted by the Navy where nine people were rescued along with 3 rifles belonging to the police officers.The recovered weapons were documented and secured awaiting proper handing and taking over to the Nigerian Police Force Bayelsa State Command.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, commended the swift response and professionalism of the personnel involved in this operation and reiterated the Navy’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of all Nigerians within the maritime domain.
