The Opposition Coalition has clarified that the Supreme Court did not rule against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as some political groups claim.
According to Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, the court merely struck out an appeal after Governor Fubara voluntarily withdrew it, since the 2024 budget had already been fully executed and the 2025 budget is now in effect.
He dismissed the pro-Wike faction’s celebration as misguided, stating that Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo remains the legitimate Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, while sacked lawmakers remain removed from office.
Ugochinyere urged the media to fact-check legal matters and called on Governor Fubara to stay focused on governance, ignoring political distractions.
