The House of Representatives has appointed Hon. Ibrahim Isiyaka, representing Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency of Ogun State, as the new Deputy Chief Whip.

Speaker of the House, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, announced Isiyaka’s appointment during Tuesday’s plenary, noting that he replaces the late Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who represented Ikenne, Sagamu, and Remo North Federal Constituency until her passing on January 15.

In a related development, Hon. Amos Magaji, representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Presenting his defection letter on the floor, Magaji attributed his decision to unresolved crises within the PDP, stating that internal disunity had weakened the party from the national level down to the wards. His defection further bolsters the APC’s presence in the National Assembly, reflecting ongoing shifts in the political landscape ahead of future elections.
