The Senate and House of Representatives have passed the N54.9 trillion 2025 Appropriation Bill presented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In the House, the bill was approved after a clause-by-clause review by the Committee of the Whole on Thursday. It was initially presented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, before being considered and passed through a voice vote led by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.
The approved budget allocates N3.65 trillion for statutory transfers, N14.32 trillion for debt servicing, N13.06 trillion for recurrent (non-debt) expenditure, and N23.96 trillion for capital projects under the Development Fund.
In the Senate, the bill was passed after a report by the Senate Committee on Appropriations, presented by its Chairman, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (APC, Ogun West).
Senate President Godswill Akpabio provided a breakdown of the budget before a motion for its passage was moved by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele (APC, Ekiti Central) and seconded by Minority Leader Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South). With the approval from both chambers, the bill now awaits presidential assent to become law.
