A member of the House of Representatives representing Gwaram Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, Yusuf Shittu Galambi, has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection was officially announced during plenary when Speaker of the House, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, read his resignation letter on the floor of the House. In the letter, Galambi cited internal divisions within the NNPP as the reason for his departure.
He stated that his decision was in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and emphasized that he joined the APC due to its ideology and commitment to development.
The NNPP has been grappling with a leadership crisis, resulting in factions within the party.
