On February 28, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the N54.99 trillion 2025 Budget of Transformation into law at the State House, Abuja. The signing ceremony was attended by key government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and Chief of Staff to the President Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
The 2025 budget, nearly double the previous year’s N27.5 trillion, is structured as follows:
- Total Expenditure: ₦54.99 trillion
- Statutory Transfers: ₦3.65 trillion
- Recurrent (Non-Debt) Expenditure: ₦13.64 trillion
- Capital Expenditure: ₦23.96 trillion
- Debt Servicing: ₦14.32 trillion
- Deficit-to-GDP Ratio: 1.52%
President Tinubu highlighted the nation’s economic growth, citing a GDP rebound to 3.86% and an increase in national revenue to N21.63 trillion. He commended the collaboration between the executive and legislative arms in crafting the budget, emphasizing its role in driving economic transformation and national development.
