
The Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), FCT Chapter, marked International Women’s Day on March 8, 2025, with a remarkable event celebrating the achievements and contributions of women to society.
In a statement signed by the FCT Command PRO Josephine Adeh; stated, that the event was held at the POWA Secretariat in Jabi and chaired by the FCT POWA Chairperson, Mrs. Disu Mutiat Olufunmilola, who was represented by Mrs. Veronica Iwodi, wife of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, FCT Police Command.Mrs Disu celebrated women breaking barriers, juggling responsibilities, and standing strong in the face of adversity; stating that women’s strength is the foundation upon which families, communities, and nations are built.
She added that in demanding professions like security and law enforcement, the stakes were high and sacrifices are great, as their resilience and dedication inspire generations to come.
Inspiring speeches were also delivered by senior female Police officers, including ACP Ifeyinwa Ndibe and CSP Esther Ogunfowora, who shared insights on balancing law enforcement careers with family and personal responsibilities. They emphasized resilience, self-care, and the importance of support systems in navigating work-life balance.
Their discussions highlighted the crucial role women play in shaping the future of policing while also supporting the professional and personal growth of their spouses.
