Reps Adopt Finance Committee’s Recommendations on Tax Reform Bills

The House of Representatives during plenary has adopted the Recommendations of the House Committee on Finance on the Tax Reform Bills. 

This followed the presentation and consideration of the reports submitted by the Chairman House Committee on Finance James Faleke during Plenary.

The Tax reform Bills submitted by President Bola Tinubu October year last initially generated controversies, which was later addressed following meetings, consultations by stakeholders for better understanding of the bills. 

These consultations by stakeholders yielded positive results that led to second readings and smooth public hearings with significant inputs from Stakeholders. 

Submitting the report, Chairman House Committee on Finance Mr James Faleke said some of the clauses that generated controversies have been resolved. 

During the consideration of the report, Speaker House of Representatives Dr Tajudeen Abbas, commended the diligent work carried out by the House Committee on Finance.

The Speaker also pointed out that the endorsement the Bills received from Stakeholders and the citizens is a true reflection of Nigerians interest on the Tax Reform Bills.

Some members of the Committee in their separate reactions said the processes leading to the adoption of the Committee’s reports were transparent.

The adopted reports are reports on Nigeria Tax Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service Bill, Joint Tax Revenue Board Establishment Bill and Nigeria Tax administration Bill
