Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has awarded full scholarships to 12-year-old twins, Chidera and Chimankpa Maduka, at Infant Jesus Orphanage in Calabar, covering their education up to university.
During his visit, Kalu donated ₦2 million in cash and food supplies. Inspired by his gesture, accompanying lawmakers contributed ₦1 million, his UNICAL classmates added ₦300,000, APC chieftain Johnbosco Onunkwo gave ₦200,000, and members of the Peace in South East Project (PISE-P) donated ₦500,000, bringing the total donation to ₦4 million.
Kalu emphasized the need for sustainable support and shared his personal journey of overcoming hardship through education. The orphanage coordinator, Sister Chinyere Chukwuka, expressed gratitude, praying for blessings upon Kalu and his team.
