Hon. Inombek Abiante has urged Nigerians to speak out against oppression, emphasizing the need to challenge injustice regardless of personal biases.
Speaking during a meeting between the House Committee on FCT Area Councils and FCT Traditional Council members, he condemned the forced displacement of indigenous FCT residents, describing it as unfair.
He also called on traditional rulers to protect their communities and criticized the government’s approach to the Niger Delta, particularly the recent state of emergency in Rivers State, which he described as oppressive. Abiante warned that silence on injustice today could lead to wider consequences in the future.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s oil sector, he noted that crude oil exploration began as a private initiative but was later nationalized, which he believes contributed to the country’s economic and governance challenges.
