The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has issued a safety advisory to members of the public, particularly youth groups, organizations, and hiking enthusiasts, urging them to take necessary precautions before engaging in camping and hiking activities.

This warning follows recent security concerns and is aimed at ensuring the safety of all participants in such outdoor excursions.

In a statement signed by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao S. Adewale, emphasized the importance of informing law enforcement before undertaking these activities. He warned that failure to notify the police could expose individuals to security threats, as remote or unsecured locations are often targeted by criminals.

The Command highlighted the necessity of liaising with law enforcement to receive guidance on safe routes and necessary security arrangements. By working closely with the police, the public can minimize risks through expert advice on location safety and adequate monitoring to prevent incidents.

Additionally, the police urged organizers to account for all participants throughout the duration of their activities. Ensuring that everyone returns safely is crucial to preventing cases of missing persons or unexpected emergencies.

The Command reiterated that maintaining open communication with law enforcement before and during such events significantly enhances safety and improves emergency response efficiency.
