The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has condemned the brutal killings of about 16 Nigerians, mainly northerners, by a group of anarchists in Edo State. The Caucus described the attack as reprehensible and warned that unchecked violence could threaten the peace and unity of the nation.
In a statement, the Caucus urged Nigerians to refrain from resorting to mob justice and instead engage law enforcement authorities to address concerns. They called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct security agencies to investigate the killings and bring the perpetrators to justice, while ensuring compensation for the affected families.
The Caucus also appealed for calm, urging Nigerians to remain peaceful and allow the authorities to investigate the incident. They expressed condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
